Visita de 3ºESO a la Casa Ábaco

Once again our 3rd year ESO students went on a trip to Puerto de la Cruz. There they visited the house “Abaco”, a mansion built in the XVIII century by Don Domingo José Herrera Ayala y Roxas Ponte Xuarez del Castillo, the XI Count of La Gomera. All the history, details and surroundings of the household were explained to the students in English by a professional guide who showed them all throughout the premises. She told them about the history of the Durazno estate and its association with the family lineage Benitez de Lugo. The students carefully followed her explanations about the most relevant aspects of the house and its history. We had a relaxing time in one of the main rooms of the house while drinking a fresh fruit cocktail and listening to some traditional music.

After that, we visited the Anglican church of All Saints in the Taoro area. The students had the chance to listen to the chaplain of the church. He spoke about the history of the building and how the church has allowed the English speaking population of Puerto de la Cruz to worship God in their own language as well as to meet together in praise and fellowship every Sunday. Later, we had some free time to relax in the park nearby.  We all had a very illustrative and pleasant day.
